2017 Technical Editing SIG Elections

The 2016 SIG Elections were held November 21 - December 5, 2016. Results will be announced shortly.

We also have a number of volunteer positions and opportunities!

Read about each of these elected positions to learn more.

Co-managers (two-year term)

Li-At (Ruttenberg) Rathbun
I've been a member of STC and LASTC (Los Angeles chapter) since 2000, and of the TE SIG since 2010.

I'm past-president of LASTC, current president of SBSTC (Santa Barbara chapter), current fundraiser events manager for the TE SIG, and a member of the STC CAC (Community Affairs Committee) Outreach Team.

Like the other TE SIG leaders, I'm passionate about maintaining this SIG's resources. We actively and successfully serve about 20% of the total STC membership, and I aim to keep it that way.

Li-At is completing the second year of her 2-year term.

Sherri Leah Henkin
I began attending LASTC (Los Angeles chapter) meetings in 2000 to get a sense of technical writing and the STC. I met Li-At at those chapter meetings. Between her enthusiasm for STC and guidance from others, I signed on in 2001. I’ve been a satisfied member ever since!

I’m a poster child for STC! My colleagues helped me find employment, assisted with my adjustment when I moved to Ohio (NEO STC), and then LA reabsorbed in 2010 when I moved back to the area. While in NEO, I co-chaired some committees and was one of the judges for the local Tech Pubs Competition.

A few years ago, my professional focus changed to editing, and I joined the TE SIG. In 2016, I served as Secretary for the TE SIG. I’ve enjoyed the camaraderie and professionalism in the SIG. I look forward to serving the TE SIG as co-manager.

Tim Slager
I’ve been a technical writer and editor for more than 20 years for Dematic Corp., The McGraw-Hill Companies, and as a freelancer. I like baseball, birds, and books, which I try not to edit while I’m reading.

Membership manager

Ann Marie Queeney
As a SIG member and volunteer (former Quarterly Program Manager and outgoing co-manager), the TE SIG has provided me with an opportunity to increase my knowledge of the technical editing field, meet (virtually and in person) other SIG members, and forge new friendships.

While the SIG already offers virtual opportunities (such as our watercooler chats) for members to meet I am interested in increasing the opportunities for our global and diverse community to meet, share ideas, and discuss the evolving world of technical editing via virtual platforms.

Communications manager

Rick Sapir
I am an active TE SIG member and have been webmaster for the SIG since 2009. I am also an STC Associate Fellow and have served on the Admin Council for the Carolina Chapter. I've worked hard to make the TE SIG a technological leader within STC.
