Corrigo Articles

Hello fellow STC Technical Editing SIG Members!

This first issue of 2011 provides interesting book reviews, a concluding note on research related to Wikipedia editing, and a look at some language errors to watch out for.

What's more, now you can rate as well as provide comments on the thoughts and ideas expressed in a Corrigo article. The new commenting feature also allows comments to Tweet, Facebook, Digg, and the like at once. SIG members as well as non-SIG members can post their comments. So, share your thoughts and let us make the most of our collective experience.

Hello fellow STC Technical Editing SIG Members!

First, it’s a delight to announce that the Technical Editing SIG received the Community of Distinction award for 2009-2010! The Community of Distinction award is the highest STC Community Achievement Award (CAA). The citation on the certificate reads as follows: "For effectively providing valuable resources on an outstanding website, innovating new uses of social media, and setting aggressive goals in a challenging year." The Technical Editing SIG also received the Pacesetter Award for 2009-2010. The Pacesetter Award acknowledges a professional or student chapter's contributions to STC goals through a single innovative and effective program or activity. Kudos to the SIG leadership! A special thanks to all the volunteers and participants who make this SIG a vibrant forum for networking and learning.

And, the deadline for the Diane Feldman Technical Editing SIG Scholarship has been extended to May 30!

Now, just a quick update from the newsletter front. We are trying to release the newsletter every two months. We hope that the roundup of articles would be the right mix of a minimum number of articles that you can skim through quickly.

There have been slight delays in the rollout of issues for 2010. However, our effort is to keep it on-course and rollout an issue by the fifth of every other month. We truly appreciation all those who support us in this initiative!

We encourage you to contribute an article for the next issue. Please send us your draft by June 15.

Hello fellow STC Technical Editing SIG Members!

First, here's a quick update on the STC Technical Editing front. The Technical Editing SIG has been extremely active with events, such as watercooler chats and webinars. We hope to provide a summary of the watercooler chats from our next issue onwards. Also, the Technical Editing SIG is conducting a survey to enhance the SIG Website, so it'll be wonderful if you provide your input! Visit the news page link below for the survey.

And, congratulations to Rick Sapir, the winner of the Distinguished SIG Service Award (DSSA), 2009!

The Technical Editing SIG is proud to recognize one of its members with the Distinguished SIG Service Award, or DSSA. Started in 2002, this DSSA recognizes exemplary dedication of a member to a SIG and its activities. Three basic criteria are considered in identifying nominees for the DSSA: length of SIG membership, consistency of service over time, and the variety of service.

The Society for Technical Communication invites all SIG members to participate in a project aimed at defining the broad outline of topics most relevant to the practice and teaching of technical communication. A charter document describing the project is linked on the home page of a wiki, http://stcbok.editme.com/Home, where you will also find information on how to volunteer to contribute to the project.

Hello fellow STC Technical Editing SIG Members! Here's a quick roundup of
the news and articles as we wrap up the year.

I (Michelle Corbin, corbinm at us.ibm.com) have thoroughly enjoyed bringing you Corrigo via the previous blog-based Web site and now our new wiki-based Web site for the past several years, but it is time for me to pass the torch to our new Managing Editor, Anitha Abraham, at Anitha.Abraham at synopsys.com.

As you can see, we had only a few articles in our final issue of the year. If you have any ideas for what you'd like to see in the newsletter in 2010, or if you have any inclination to write any type of article for the newsletter in 2010, please contact Anitha!
